How Do AI Neural Networks Function?

In an effort to wrap my head around AI concepts, I’ve recently been working my way through an intro course to understanding AI systems provided by IBM SkillsBuild.

I’m currently on a lesson that explains the basics behind how neural networks function and they provide an example that I found very useful, so I thought I’d throw it up here.

Bear in-mind that this example illustrates how a single node functions when, in fact, a neural network employs many of these simultaneously, feeding into each other.
